MAGI SPIRIT WEEK Colon, MI
Homecoming 2008

The week before Homecoming, we held Silver Wars.  We had four themes to vote on:  Disney, Time Lines, Music and Game Shows.  We raised $200 for the overall winning class of Homecoming week.

We held competitions all week to earn points toward winning the money and pulling together for the Magical Spirit of the Magi.  During the week, students enjoyed dress up days. Monday was Pajama Day, the Sophomores and the Seniors had a tie for first place.

Tuesday began with a Dress Up Day of Duct Tape, we had some very creative people who made clothing out of the tape.  Tuesday we also held our Fall Introduction assembly where we honored our extra curricular activities and athletic teams and handed out over 400 goodie bags to students.  Classrooms were also able to earn points toward Homecoming through spirit competitions and singing our school fight song.  After school we held a Games Night.  Senior High Classes competed in games like a car push, an egg toss, a pie eating contest, a blanket race, a powder puff football, a school fight song, a Magi Cheer, and a class cheer that the students had to make up at the bon fire which was held for the entire student body.  It was great fun and we had an opportunity to work with all grade levels competing and playing together.

Wednesday was Fake an Injury day.  We had a couple of gruesome injuries, but most were just fun.  Thursday was Class Color Day where each class had a specific color to wear.  Friday was Extreme Red & White Day.  This made our games assembly even more spirited having almost everyone dressed in red and white.

Our local food bank was in need, so we decided to help them out by making admission to our games assembly cost one non-perishable food item to enter.  Our assembly was a tremendous success, not only was it great fun, but we also collect 469 food items and $25 for our town.  We had an awesome relay race which included guys running in stilettos, blind folded crab walkers, and plunger motored skateboarding.  We had competitions for the biggest hair, Mr. and Mrs. Magi, a great dance-off and new staff initiation.  Classes earned points throughout the assembly for winning the games and for demonstration of overwhelming class spirit.

Our Homecoming Parade was unforgettable.  The Junior class won the float contest with “the Junior is Right” game show.  We crowned Chante Harris and Joe Woolford as King and Queen.  The other seniors on the court were Maddison Jackson, Tiera Bernheisel, Chelsea Brewer, Jerred  Morris, Kyle Alley and Mike Balizet.  We crowned Jennifer Willey as Princess and Curtis Hiler as Prince, our underclassmen court also consisted of Sarah Jones and Chelsea Kubasiak, Chip Dudley and Tanner Cook.  We held a dance in their honor and for all those senior high students who participated in Homecoming 2008.
