Colon Community Schools

When Colon Community Schools operates on a two-hour delay, please note the following:

Childcare (CARE)

• There is no before-school CARE

• If the delay occurs on a Friday, there is no after-school CARE
  

Breakfast

• Elementary & Leonidas: Breakfast will not be served

• Jr./Sr. High School: Breakfast will be served

Dismissal

• All schools will follow their regular dismissal times

Delayed Start Times

• Elementary: 10:00 AM
  (Doors open at 9:50 AM)

• Jr./Sr. High School: 9:50 AM
  (Doors open at 9:30 AM)

• Leonidas: 9:05 AM

Transportation

• If your student rides a bus, their pickup time will be approximately two hours later than their normal scheduled time

In the event that school must be closed, Colon Community Schools will communicate this information as early as possible using all of the methods listed above. We encourage families to reference these sources to stay informed.

If you are not receiving calls or text messages from the school, please contact your child’s school office so we can ensure your contact information is accurate.

If you have recently changed your phone number, it is important that you update your information with the office to continue receiving timely notifications.

In the event that school must be dismissed early due to circumstances such as a power outage or severe weather, Colon Community Schools will communicate this information through all of the channels listed above to ensure families are informed as quickly as possible.

If an early dismissal occurs and you need to change your student’s method of transportation home, please contact the front office as soon as possible so we can ensure your child is dismissed safely and according to your instructions.
